- Sports Science – Level 1 (National Coaching Certification Scheme – National Sports Council of Malaysia).
He started learning Aikido in the year 1995 and at the end of the year 1997, he was graded to 1st Dan black belt by Kancho Inoue Sensei who was then the Headmaster of Aikido Yoshinkai Foundation, Japan.
He has devoted his effort to spreading Aikido under the tutelage of Thamby Rajah Sensei since early 1998. A year later Ramlan Sensei was graded to 2nd Dan. Seeing Ramlan Sensei’s enthusiasm and strong spirit, in January 2002, Thamby Sensei sent Ramlan Sensei to Melbourne for intensive training and to be trained personally under his nephew, Joe Thambu Shihan (7th Dan, Yoshinkan Aikido) who is the Chief Instructor of Aikido Shudokan Australia, registered and renowned instructor with Yoshinkan Aikido Hombu Dojo, Japan.
Ramlan Sensei went to Melbourne again in March 2003 in conjunction with Kancho Inoue’s visit and was graded to 3rd Dan by Kancho Inoue Sensei. 4 years later, Joe Thambu Shihan graded him to 4th Dan.
He has also trained under world-renowned Aikido teachers such as Kyoichi Inoue Hanshi, Tsutomo Chida Shihan, Takafumi Takeno Shihan, Yasuhisa Shioda Shihan (son of Soke Gozo Shioda) and Robert Mustard Sensei (Canada).
Ramlan Sensei has been constantly going to Japan and Australia to undergo advance training and has attended many seminars overseas. He participated in the 50th Anniversary of All Japan Yoshinkan Aikido Demonstration (September 2005) and featured in many demonstrations locally and internationally such as in Japan, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand.
He also taught in overseas seminars such as UK, Europe and Singapore. Besides teaching Yoshinkan Aikido, he also conducts workshops & seminars for women, securities industries and known as motivational speaker for government & private sectors.
Ramlan Sensei has been featured in various segment in TV programme such as Selamat Pagi Malaysia, Nona, KM/J (Technical Advisor – Self Defence), Beat TV, and Bisnes Malaysia.
Ramlan Sensei personal objective is to achieve and maintain a high level of Aikido for himself and also his students.
Aikido Shudokan Malaysia embraces the philosophies of Yoshinkan Aikido and looks to spread these philosophies to broader community.
In January 2008, Ramlan Sensei opened the first Yoshinkan Aikido Dojo in Singapore.
Ramlan Ahmed Sensei set up his organization with a few objectives :
- To share the philosophy of Aikido
- To uphold the martial arts way
- To attain and sustain the highest quality of Aikido
- To achieve accreditation for all Black belts from Yoshinkan Aikido Hombu, Japan
- To maintain excellent relationship with all Aikido practitioners internationally
